Be Holy

We will look at a command, both from Peter and ultimately God, the command to be HOLY – in 1 Peter 1:2, Peter uses word “sanctified”, which means purified, set apart, or made holy – Peter is driving the readers toward this thought of thinking about themselves differently, something greater to aspire to than merely survival – And here is thought this morning: “Holiness is not something to merely aspire to, something to accomplish. Holiness is who you were made to be. Holiness is who you are.”

1. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE - Be fully alert and sober-minded, setting your mind on the hope and confidence that comes from Jesus – (1 Peter 1:13).

2. LET WHO YOU ARE INFLUENCE WHAT YOU DO - No longer ignorant, but obedient to who Jesus says you are – Jesus curbs your appetite for sin.

3. HOLINESS, a set apart life, IS A BY-PRODUCT OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS – by percentage, this set apart life is chosen by very few – Jesus says in Matthew 7:13-14 – why? Because most don’t believe it is available, too good to be true – belief will drive your actions – HOLINESS IS NOT SOMETHING TO ACCOMPLISH – HOLINESS IS WHO YOU ARE.

REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.
