Favoritism/ Discrimination

  1. We are called to love in an impartial, unbiased way. No wiggle room here. James tells us no one gets preferential treatment, we treat EVERYONE the same.
  2. If you don’t, you misrepresent the Gospel. The essence of the Gospel is that none of us measure up, that we all need Jesus – when you start playing god and determining who is worthy and unworthy, you are no longer following Jesus, but your own way – who have you determined is not worthy of your love? Who have you intentionally snubbed or looked the other way because they don’t fit neatly into your life?
  3. If you break ANY law, you are a lawbreaker. The greatest commandment is to LOVE GOD WITH EVERYTHING, and LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. You don’t choose which laws to follow in the Kingdom, but rather, listen and obey whatever he calls you to do, whoever he calls you to love.
  4. Mercy triumphs over judgment. God will be the judge, not you. You love and extend mercy to people right where they are. God will take care of the rest. Not up to you.
