The Role of Man

1. Men, you are called to be protector and preserver of God’s presence in the sacred space you have been given: Your HOME. Just like Adam, God’s intention has always been for you to protect and preserve God’s presence in your home. You are the gatekeeper – Now, God filled you with testosterone for a reason – you were made to protect, not hide under the bed – We understand this in Montgomery County, where you are more likely to shoot first and ask questions later - but this is not just physical protection, but spiritual protection – how is the presence of God preserved in your home?
• Pray with your wife. If this scares you because you are afraid it will be awkward, it probably will be in the beginning. But it’s pretty simple – “How can I pray for you”, and whatever she says, pray for that!

• Read the Bible and pray with your kids. You get to shepherd their hearts.

• Protect what your family takes in. You control the screens in your house and protect God’s presence. And, that includes you. Be the gatekeeper. Your family needs spiritual protection and preservation.

2. Take Spiritual authority and responsibility for your family. Again, men tend to excel in physical authority, but not spiritual, and don’t take the responsibility seriously of leading your family – Part of being a MAN is living into the authority and responsibility given to you – so, you may have male parts, but not be a MAN as defined by the Bible – You must be willing to be spiritual SERVANT LEADER of your family, and take responsibility for promoting God’s presence in the home. Ephesians 5:25, called to love your wives as Christ loves the church (sacrificial, to the death).
