1. Genuine love is fully expressed in the way we treat our enemies. Loving without hypocrisy means you are required by God’s mercy to see people in a new way – through His eyes – Real love is to EVERYONE, even those who hurt you – not just “not hating”, but blessing them.

2. Genuine love pursues peace and reconciliation. This is difficult, because it’s not saying get back into relationship with abuser – what it is saying is no more contempt – At very least, be determined to pray for their good, pray that God will restore them, fulfill them.

3. Let God be God. This begins with the understanding that God is good, and will take care of you. You live under His mercy, so you have given up your right to live in offense – you release it to Him and beg Him to change your heart, then leave the result up to Him.
