“We eagerly await a savior from there, the LORD JESUS CHRIST…” – he has referred to the DAY OF CHRIST JESUS earlier in the passage – Jesus is coming back, and he’s WORTH WAITING FOR, he deserves our allegiance – It’s his world, we’re just living in it, and when he returns, we will ALL BE CHANGED FOREVER.

1. As Citizens of Heaven, when the world checks out, we press in. Hard things are a result of a broken world, but we can set the pace for how to respond when things are spinning out of control – when the world is fearful, we bring hope – when the world is hateful, we bring love – when the world is angry, we bring peace - Illus – thermostat vs. thermometer – “wherever we go the Kingdom goes with us”

2. As Citizens of Heaven, we follow the standard of the Kingdom of Heaven, not the Kingdom of Culture. There is a knowable way to live in the Kingdom, and it is counter-cultural – Where have you embraced a cultural standard and mislabeled it as the way of Jesus? It’s ok to be on a journey, but not to live in a calloused way toward sin in your life.

The Unified church of Jesus will change the world when we all get on the same page and embrace the way of Jesus in a counter-cultural, life-changing way – the world is watching and desperately needs us to set the pace in the way we promote love, peace and hope.
